Metals reference

Metals & grades

A technical-commercial reference for copper cathode, recycled copper and aluminium grades, processing suitability, quality evidence and shipment preparation.

Grade names are a starting point—not a complete specification.

Trade terminology helps counterparties communicate, but material value ultimately depends on the written specification, chemistry or recovery expectation, preparation, contamination, processing route, packing, weight determination, sampling and claims framework.

Technical perspective

Commercial grades viewed through the receiving process.

Moorgate's metals activity is supported by senior technical expertise spanning copper recycling, melting, casting, ETP and FRHC rod production, continuous casting and industrial process optimisation.

This helps us translate commercial grade descriptions into the processing, recovery and quality considerations relevant to industrial buyers.

Copper grades
Processing suitability

The receiving process changes the value of the same tonne.

High-grade metallic scrap, impurity-bearing scrap, insulated cable and refined cathode sit at different points in the copper value chain. The most useful commercial comparison considers the treatment needed to turn the material into the buyer's usable output.

Aluminium grades
Commercial note: Indicative ranges on grade pages are educational reference points only. Contractual specifications must be agreed between the parties and confirmed by representative inspection and documentation.
